"Hey, over here!" bawled the officer.
"Oh, I’m sorr’. I didn’t know ye ‘anted me," said James.
"Are you…"asked the officer, looking down at his notepad, "Are you James Monroe?"
"Why yea. Who’d ye think I was, the President of the United States?" said James, fawning annoyance.
"Well sir, I’m to escort you to Conference Room 5. Would you please follow me?" Asked the officer, not paying attention to James.
"Well, I guess since ye as’ed so nicely, I ‘an come an’ see what this is about," said James. Without another word, the officer, obviously just a guard, walked away, "An’ I’m jus’ suppose’ te follow ye?"
"Yes sir," said the guard without turning around.
"Welt, I guess that’s fine ‘en," said James. When they reached the room, the guard opened the door, "In ‘ere?" The guard just nodded.
After the guard left, James looked around, "You can come out. I know you’re in here, and that guard was a joke. Couldn’t even tell I wasn’t from America."
"Ah, you did pretty good," said Madison Korlin, "Donny thought you were the wrong person. He was wrong I see."
"Donny?" asked James.
"Why yes, Donald Likenforth. You don’t recognize that name? General Donald Likenforth, ya know?" Said the man, obviously surprised.
"General, uh? Where is he? Don’t I need to talk to ‘im?" asked James.
"He’ll be here in a minute," said Madison.
When Donald Likenforth entered the room, Madison stepped back to accommodate the man’s well-fed physique in the small room, "So, what will you be doin’ in this attack?"
"Well, sir, I’m to lead a group of infantry to the command center in Winona," said James. Both men looked down in sad silence for a moment. No one could have thought the Soviets would have been able to reach this far into America. Texas and Arkansas maybe, but Missouri was just to far from the border.
"Well, actually you’re commander of a group of highly trained veterans. These guys are some of the best," said the General, pointed to a folder on the table, "There’s the info on all your men, take a look at your people."
After Madison handed him the folders, James began reading, "Madison Kirlon? You’re my Intel on this mission?"
"Yes sir," said Madison sheepishly, "But I’m not the best or anything like the General talks."
"Be quiet," said General Likenforth to Madison, "You’re the one who found the Soviet Marauder Base."
"That was you?" asked James.
"Yes," answered Madison.
Suddenly James thought he should get to know his people better…
