Death Valley  ...written by Elite0045

Chapter 1

Los Angeles, California, After Russian Invasion...

I peeked through my M82 sniper rifle. Seeking enemy soldiers and officers. Enemies. Strong word to say. Perfect word for those maniacal soviets. Invading us while we allied with them. 400 yards behind me are 4 heavy U.S. howitzers. Ready for an artillery barrage. I am part of the 2nd Recon Marines. 20 of us scouted the front lines. Thousands of our americans died in this invasion. General Carville was smart though. He drove the Soviet navy out to sea. Leaving 14,000 Russians trapped within the city of Los Angeles. I viewed my scope, looking at 2 Tesla soldiers and about 12 conscripts. I have to take this shot. Looking at the stripes of one of the conscripts, I'd say one of them was an officer. I took the shot, and the man lay dead. I quickly yelled, "Fire, Fire at will!"

The twenty of us shot the rest of the Russians in the front lines. We then had orders, to withdraw, and get back to base. Two trucks came 4 minutes later, the twenty of us loaded up on the trucks, and exited the battlefield. I climbed off the truck and entered joint-operations center about 15 miles south east of Los Angeles. Grid 9, point 0880. We spotted at least a dozen Russian artillery and howitzers at this point. I jerked up and said, "Sir, that's Death Valley!" He nodded at me and answered, "This is Death Valley, and this is where at least a quarter of the Russian task force is hidden.

The Brigadier General Jackson looked at us. 2nd Recon forces were chosen to lead this raid. We were instructed to come in on Humvees, APCs, and Trucks. All 1,200 of us. Since we were recon, we had no intention of coming with tanks. The young General explained that if we were losing, we should radio in for artillery barrage or perhaps the 172nd infantry division. I came upon the general and reported, "Sir, Master Sergeant Thomas Gooden, reporting for duty!" I just came in from a routine patrol off Los Angeles. The 2nd recon was divided into 4 squads. I was instructed to lead squad 4. Captain James Watson lead squad 1. Lieutenant Colonel David Biggs lead squad 2, and Master Sergeant James Knight lead Squad 3. Each squad had at least 30 soldiers. Then, the rest of the 2nd recon, about 1,000 soldiers, will come in from the north east an hour after the first wave. Squad leaders, soldiers, marines, move out!

to be continued...
