Rumble in the Night  written by AAK625

“It was a dark and rainy night and we were in the forest standing by for anything.... or so we thought. Of in the distance we heard a loud rumbling,  like giants running through the land. We had no idea what was about to happen.

At mid-night all of a sudden trees started to snap in half and things were being crushed. We peered out into the black  darkness with a scared yet curious look. Within seconds these immense figures arose from the trees and loomed over us like monsters in little kids’ dreams. We were then given the order to open up on them. Right away we received answering fire. Bullets, Shrapnel, and almost everything else including bodies flew all around me. It was so horrible.

An intelligence officer identified the vehicles as Soviet Rhino Heavy Tanks. The battle went on and on. It seemed like we were fighting an endless enemy. The battle  finally ceased  in the morning. What we saw was a huge catastrophe, wounded and dead soldiers from both sides were all around us, the forest was burning, those Rhino Tanks were nothing but piles of twisted metal. Through the smoke and haze there was an extremely enormous shadow, it was a Soviet Apocalypse Tank. It didn’t have a scratch on it. Why hadn’t it fought last night? Was it left there on purpose so it could bear the hammer & sickle of the Soviet Union?

We were finally replaced by reserves and MCV’s moved in and created bases in the general area. On the way back to the main base,  we were later told that last night, October 24, was the beginning of the Soviet Invasion of the United States of America. That day will be remembered. Blood was shed and many lives were lost to defend our country.”
