Enemy On The Horizon written by Gravis856

Commander Alekseyev peered out the window of his makeshift command post. He kept on thinking about how pointless this war was. Hundreds of thousands of young soldiers and officers were dying each day. Half the efforts used in this war could make the Soviet Union a great economic power. But then, Alekseyev mentally berated himself for having such thoughts. The KGB would drag him out into the streets if anyone got wind of his opinions. Just then, there was a knock on his door and a courier arrived with a folder marked "Top Secret". The courier snapped a brisk salute, which was returned by Alekseyev. After carefully analyzing his orders, Alekseyev shot up like a bullet. "Don't they realize that this is suicide?" Alekseyev exclaimed. "Comrade General, you do understand that my orders come directly from Moscow?" stated the courier in a shaky voice. "Da" he replied with a heavy sigh. "You may leave, that will be all." Looking off into the distance, Alekseyev thought of his wife and two daughters back in Kiev while motioning a private to get him Sergeant
Sergetov. Sergetov walked in a full five minutes later. "Da, Comrade General" Sergetov watched his forces prepare from is Apocalypse tank. It was 0530 and he was beginning to get a little nervous. The enemy base sent out two spies in an effort to gather intelligence on their position. Sergetov shook his head. If the idiot tank commander hadn't driven so far east, the Allies wouldn't have picked up him on radar. He would make sure that he would have him pay for it with his life. If he lived that is. Intelligence indicated that he was estimated to lose over 50% of his strike force. He had backup forces of two squadrons of conscript paratroopers and one squadron of Psi-corps troopers. They wouldn't do squat if they arrived too late. He put the thought in the back of his mind. It was time to focus on the current events. His forced amassed to 1 division of Apocalypse tanks, 2 divisions of Rhino tanks, 20 terror drones, 7 Flak Tracks, 10 V3 rockets, 3 Kirovs and 75 conscripts. "Not good so far, not even reach the enemy base and you've lost 15& of your attack force." Sergetov muttered. They were just outside the base. Along the walls he saw row after row of deployed G.I.s. Sergetov thought, "How the hell can I take this without getting my behind handed to me?" Then a little voice in the back of his head said, "That's what reserves are for Sergeant." Sergetov ordered his units to charge ahead, full speed. Dogs turned conscripts into moving bloodbaths. Pillboxes made most of his terror drones into scrap metal. But it was the tanks that made all the difference. His Rhinos made a hole in enemy lines and his remaining conscripts poured through. This allowed for a small group of engineers and a few elite conscripts as guards, to sneak into the Battle Lab, followed by the Radar station. The few technicians that were there were shot on site. A few screamed as they heard the AK-47 rattle off a few rounds only to meet a similar fate a few seconds later. After the finished uploading Einstein's Chrono plans, the Soviet technicians decided to add a surprise. They accessed the base's intercom system, and uploaded the Soviet national anthem. As Sergetov got out of his tank, he looked around at the destruction he had caused. He didn't have much time to think about it since he decided to take out his sidearm and help secure the base. As he was shooting helpless G.I.s, Sergetov heard something. The national anthem was blaring loud throughout the base. As he shot scrambling technicians, and heard the useless screams of the dying, he felt something. A feeling that he could only describe as nationalism surged through his veins. All his years of fighting for the Red Army had been fruitless up until this moment. He then realized that he would do anything for Mother Russia, no matter what the cost. |
