"Every game has its share of bugs; Red Alert has its bugs.
They are minor and include artifacts forming when flying into
the shroud; some units freeze and will not respond to the
commands even when they acknowledge the selection; and the
production of lemon vehicles. What this means is that some
vehicles are a lot slower than the others, they don't fire as
fast, things of that nature. This has only occurred in the
second to last mission of the Soviet campaign when the war
factory was mass-producing apocalypse tanks. Load times are also
somewhat long. Overall none of the bugs are show-stopping,
and Red Alert 2 seemed very polished." Full

Domain (Second
Opinion) 12/5/00
Command and
Conquer's designers typically built missions that required the
player to figure out the "key" to success. Was it an
early attack or a protracted siege? Should you attack their
harvesters and bleed them dry or focus on building out your own
technology tree for the long haul? This technique return in Red
Alert 2 and is, for the most part, just as effective as in
C&C. Full

Review

Rating - 94/100 "Red
Alert 2 has turned out to be everything I could have wished for,
okay, so it doesn't bring anything new to the RTS genre but does
that really matter, this game is solid! This is the best RTS for
ages, the units are great, the game looks great, the balancing
is everything they said it would be and the multiplayer is
fantastic. Westwood have certainly shown once again that they
are capable of producing the best strategy games around." Full

UK Review

Rating - 9/10 "Red
Alert 2 needs little introduction. Suffice to say it's the
sequel to one of the best-selling PC games of all time in the
UK. But that's just one of its many claims to fame. The fact
that nobody outside of Westwood Studios knew anything about it
before May of this year, and the fact they said it would be
released in October - and, hey presto!, it's on time - has to be
pretty amazing too. I mean, this is the games industry - that
sort of thing doesn't happen often. But let's face it, this is
Command & Conquer and Westwood has had plenty of
practice." Full

Rating - 95/100 "Shock
horror! I have been lured away from my beloved consoles to play
a computer game! And I don't know how I can tear myself away!
Red Alert 2 has arrived and Westwood Studios have done
themsleves proud once more with another Command & Conquer
title that'll have you mouse clicking and keyboard tapping like
a lunatic. I haven't felt this warm and fuzzy about a computer
game since Star Craft. Bless you Electronic Arts, for my pc is
now not only a reminder of how much work I have to do but also a
haven for some kick ass gameplaying." Full

"Red Alert 2 might very
well be the best of the series to date. Die hard fans of the
series will want the latest and greatest, which in a short time
will garner all of the attention at Westwood Online. If you are
new to real-time strategy games, you will appreciate the easier
difficultly levels."

"With
Red Alert 2 you get everything that made the original so
much fun, while at the same time you have a cutting-edge RTS game
that might not be considered revolutionary, but is all kinds of
fun to play."
