The Red Alert Released!

Here's something exciting for us 'old-timers' who were Command & Conquer fans back when the original Red Alert was released in 1996. But I'm sure the rest of ya will enjoy it just as much. On Wednesday a total conversion mod for Red Alert 3 was released. It's titled The Red Alert. According the mod's official website...
"The Red Alert is based directly off the seminal Red Alert's art and gameplay. Not aiming to model realism, the mod instead endeavors to recreate the essence of the original title. The Red Alert will bring the addictive heart-pounding gameplay of this C&C classic to a world-class 3D engine, complete with all the original units, including those from the Aftermath expansion."
Anyhoot, you can read more about the mod and grab the download HERE.

SAAM Invites Public to Vote on Games

The Smithsonian American Art Museum is inviting the public to help select the video games that will be included in its upcoming exhibition “The Art of Video Games,” which opens in Washington, D.C. next year starting on March 16, 2012. Here's a tad more from the museum's website.
Voting will take place online, www.artofvideogames.org, from Feb. 14 through April 7, 2011. A valid e-mail address is the only requirement to vote. The website will offer participants a chance to vote for 80 games from a pool of 240 proposed choices in various categories, divided by era, game type and platform. The winning games will be displayed in the exhibition as screen shots and short video clips. The website will include an online forum where gaming enthusiasts can campaign for particular games and voice their opinions about the selections. The games on the voting site were selected for their graphic excellence, artistic intent and innovative game design. Results will be available online in May.
Two games created by Westwood Studios, Dune II (era 3) and Command & Conquer (era 4), are included for voting in the Combat/Strategy genre. Those of you who want to vote may do so HERE. Be patient when voting because for some reason it takes a while for each voting era section to load.

New C&C Community Manager

Yes...we have a new C&C community manager, but looks like he's gonna remain a mystery for the time being. Least until he see over 200,000 people “like” @CommandandConquer on facebook. Anyhoot, the only hint we have is the pic down yonder with a Red Alert theme (with the exception of the question mark), and that's not much to go on, other than perhaps the next C&C game will be in the Red Alert Universe? Seriously though, I think there IS a 'SUBLIMINAL' message hidden deep within that picture. Start with the hands holding the question mark.

Head on over to the official C&C Facebook Page...make sure to click on the 'like' link whilst there.
