Map Tutorial - MAP STANDARDS

Instruction for zipping and making your map readme file:

After you create a map and want to submit it to RADEN or any site that accepts maps, you need to do two things. First, create a readme file so the people who download your map have an idea of what it's all about. (Use notepad for this) Second, your map needs to be included in a zip file along with your Readme file containing the description of your map. You should also name the zip file something similar to the file name of your map. Example: if your map file is called combat.mpr, then name your zip file combat.zip. If you don't have a zip program, I suggest you get the zip program WinZip. It's a free download. The map making community has also set a standard for making readme files you include along with your map. Below is the format you should follow:

Author: Your name/nickname goes here
Address: email or webpage address
Editor: Final Alert
Created: The date the map was first created
Last mod: The date the map was last modified
Name: Map name
Version:  Version number
Series: Series name if it belongs to any
Size: Map size ?x?
Players: min - max
Theater: Temperate/Snow/Urban etc.
Info: Description of your map

You should also include instructions on where to place the map file and how to get it to work. Don't take for granted everyone knows this. Just tell em to place the map in their RA2 directory, fire up the game, and look for the map name.
