- Download the zip file from the
website to your desktop so you can find it easily.
- Open up the zip file with an unzip
program like Winzip. If you don't have Winzip you can download it here.
- Next, you will need to place your
map file or game mod file(s) you downloaded into your Westwood/RA2
directory, (unless it is an .exe file that will auto install to your
RA2 directory for you.)
- To do this, go to Start, then
Programs, then Windows Explorer. Scroll down till you see your
Westwood Directory. Open this, then open up your RA2 directory.
Place your map file or game mod file(s) into the RA2 directory, then
close up Windows Explorer.
NOTE:
Map files with the extension .mpr or .mmx are for Red Alert2. Map files
with the extension .yrm are for the expansion Yuri's Revenge.
Further
instructions (Map Files)
- Start your Red Alert2 or Yuri's
Revenge game. The map
you placed in your RA2 directory will now be available for use. If
you ever decide you don't want the map file in your RA2 directory,
simply delete the file.
Further
instructions (Game Mods)
- Start your Red Alert2 game. The
rules.ini file and any other files you placed in your RA2 directory
will cause the changes in the game to take place. In other words,
your game will now be modified.
- When you decide you no longer want
to use a particular mod and want your game to return to normal,
simply take out the rules.ini file and other files that may have
came with the download from your RA2 directory or delete the files.
- NOTE:
If you want to keep the rules.ini file in your RA2 directory so you
can play it at another time, rename it to something else until your
ready to use it again. Then when you decide you want to play it
again you will need to rename it to rules.ini in order for it to
work properly.
