Leaving for and arriving in
Las Vegas...
I woke up on that Thursday morning more excited than I had ever been in my entire life. I had to go to school from 7am to about 4pm that day to make some hours I would be missing on Friday. But after a full day of school, my mom and I were at the airport, waiting for the boarding order. Once called, we found out that we each had three seats to ourselves. With that, I caught up on some sleep. After a nervous three hours, we arrived in Las Vegas. It was literally in the middle of a desert. You saw nothing but sand dunes and mountains for miles and miles. And in the middle, was this beautiful city, full of life...Las
Vegas!
As we landed, it took about 10 minutes to actually get off the airplane because of so many people on the flight. (yet, we had three seats to
ourselves, weird, eh?) Once out, we headed towards baggage claims to get our
bags. As we walked towards it, we passed a limo driver that had our name on a sign. So, naturally, we told him who we were and he
led us to get our bags.
We picked them up and headed towards our hotel. The Luxor hotel was HUGE. Twice the size of the mall we have here in St.
Louis, it is a 30-story, pyramid-shaped hotel. It included who knows how many gambling machines, a McDonalds, a Krispy Kreme, an ice cream parlor, many more 'sit down' restaurants, a two story video arcade and 5 swimming pools. I'm tellin' you guys, I didn't find the arcade until my last night there. And the only reason I found it was because I was lost and trying to find my way back to my room!
Built in 1993, Luxor is the second largest hotel in the United
States with 4,408 richly-appointed guest rooms and suites. It
cost $335 million to build...wow! Luxor Hotel Resort and Casino
boasts the world's largest atrium, measuring 29 million cubic
feet.
After looking around the hotel a bit and getting
lost quite a number of times, we found our room and turned it in for the night. Our room had two king size beds, a sweet bathroom and TV with cable.
